The Charlotte chapter's mission is to provide a networking and developmental resource for local alumni, thus extending the Morehouse experience beyond the college years. In addition, we seek to use chapter resources to support a variety of community needs.
The Charlotte chapter was founded in the late mid 1970's by a dedicated core led by Dr. Robert Vaughn and Dr. Wesley Clement. Since it's inception, the chapter has had many successes including:
Recipients of the 2003 Chapter of the Year Award
Hosting several community awards banquets, the last of which featured former Surgeon General, Dr. David Satcher
Providing thousands of dollars in college scholarships
Supporting the STARS mentoring academy founded and managed by Brother Elijah Watson
Hosting concerts featuring the renown Morehouse College Glee Club
Supporting the King holiday celebration in ways including a short film festival showcasing the work of Black, male filmakers
Facilitating a number of Morehouse student recruiting activities including the development of a recruiting video (click to view recruiting video)
